📌 Mission Objective
Within the development of a floating offshore wind turbine (FOWT), the objective was to ensure global integrity of the structure under design conditions, accounting for environmental loads, electrical equipment weights.
🧠 Approach & Actions
- Global modelling of the floater’s steel hull using Femap (finite element shell model)
- Integration of environmental loads (wave, wind, current) and permanent weights
- Definition of design load combinations including mooring loads
- Pre-sizing and optimization of structural members (scantling) under ULS, SLS, ALS and FLS conditions
- Post-processing of results and verification against DNV standards for yield and buckling strength as well as fatigue.
