Stability Analysis – Inland cargo transport

📌 Mission Objective

For this project, a stability analysis was carried out for the river transport of several heavy cargo units, each weighing approximately 500 tonnes, on board a multipurpose inland vessel.

The objective of the study was to ensure the safe loading, transport, and unloading of the cargo within the applicable inland navigation stability requirements, while maintaining operational feasibility and compliance with draft, air-draft, and structural constraints.

🧠 Approach & Actions

  • Review vessels characteristics, capacities and transverse frame drawings
  • 3D modelling of the hull and stations definition
  • Design basis / stability framework definition (assumptions, constrains, rules, criteria)
  • Preparation of GHS files for Part Maker
  • Preparation of GHS files for the different loading conditions
  • Stability analysis and longitudinal strength assessment
  • Presentation of results to the client
